Head down and stay focused for the next round
In his younger years, Pon's heart was in racing. He raced six times at the Le Mans circuit and took part in one Formula 1 race, during the 1962 Dutch Grand Prix. In 1963, he won the Limburg Grand Prix at Circuit Zolder in Belgium with his Porsche 356. In 1965, Ben Pon retired from professional motorsport. He started working at “Pon's Automobielhandel” where he was responsible for the import of Porsche cars. After a successful racing career, Pon left his family business and moved to the United States to pursue his other passion, making wine. In 1992, he started his vineyard in Carmel Valley, California. In racing, the term 'head down' is used when drivers focus on the next lap.
Keep your head up, stay positive
In 2017, Dutch businessman Robert van der Wallen and Bernardus Pon met for the first time. Van der Wallen immediately fell in love with the attractive and special Bernardus wines. A dear friendship developed and they became business partners. When Bernardus Pon passed away in 2019, Robert van der Wallen became the sole owner of Bernardus. The piece of agricultural land that Robert bought in 2016, he transformed into one of Europe's leading golf courses; Bernardus Golf, which he named after Ben Pon. Golf is a sport where focus and a positive mindset are crucial. The premium Bernardus Cap is not only a stylish item, it is the ideal gift to give when someone needs a little support.

Fond memories of our "founder"
“In America I wanted to make wines that can compete with the best wines in the world and be accessible to everyone. Maybe not every day, but every day that you want to make more beautiful. We have worked with everything to create a wine collection that meets this ambition and believe that we have succeeded”
